Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do you pronounce “Pointii”?
You guys couldn’t come up with a better name? It’s pronounced “Point-ee”. We used all of our creative juices on making the name and site awesome and unique; please forgive us. If you would like to know where it came from, I guess we might as well explain that too (smiles). We focus heavily on points because it verifies the amount of career readiness and experience that a student has earned. We also work our best to make the process “gamified”. That said, if you are familiar with the videogame console Wii, guess where we got the “ii” from in Pointii. Now, you know our little secret!
  • How does Pointii work?
It’s simple! Students create profiles, request recommendations from professionals, study career readiness lessons, and while they earn points for doing so, they use their points to apply for career experiences with their ideal industry expert. Meanwhile, educators are able to track how students perform in career experiences, what careers students are most interested in, and their professional development in general.
  • Are there pricing plans?
Yes, Pointii offers plans for individual educators, as well as groups. Please contact us to learn more about a plan that works best for you!
  • Who can use Pointii?
Students and educators have dashboard or profiles. However, businesses can offer career experiences to connect with students who best their criteria.
  • How secure and/or private is Pointii for students?
Security is of the utmost importance! Once users sign up, all of their information is private. However, educators do have access to a student’s profile at any time to help guide and monitor development.

  • What would be considered an acceptable recommendation?
Recommendations should highlight a student’s character, achievements and/or impact. Please remember that companies may view the recommendation so keep it appropriate and about the student. If Pointii deems the recommendation unacceptable or inappropriate, we will take further action which will include an investigation, appropriate legal actions, or suspension/expulsion of an account.
  • Who can give recommendations?
Thus far, recommendations can only be made by school personnel including teachers, counselors, principals and school partner organizations. Professionals who offer students career experiences can write them as well. However, emails left by the recommender must be a work or school email (e.g. melissa.mccarthy@bigpublicschools.org or lforte@pointii.com). If recommenders use personal email accounts like Gmail, Yahoo, etc., the recommendation will not be accepted or it will be recorded as unverified.
