How do you pronounce “Pointii”? You guys couldn’t come up with a better name? It’s pronounced “Point-ee”. We used all of our creative juices on making the name and site awesome and unique; please forgive us. If you would like to know where it came from, I guess we might as well explain that too (smiles). We focus heavily on points because it verifies the amount of career readiness and experience that a student has earned. We also work our best to make the process “gamified”. That said, if you are familiar with the videogame console Wii, guess where we got the “ii” from in Pointii. Now, you know our little secret!
How does Pointii work?
It’s simple! Students create profiles, request recommendations from professionals, study career readiness lessons, and while they earn points for doing so, they use their points to apply for career experiences with their ideal industry expert. Meanwhile, educators are able to track how students perform in career experiences, what careers students are most interested in, and their professional development in general.
Are there pricing plans? Yes, Pointii offers plans for individual educators, as well as groups. Please contact us to learn more about a plan that works best for you!
Who can use Pointii? Students and educators have dashboard or profiles. However, businesses can offer career experiences to connect with students who best their criteria.
How secure and/or private is Pointii for students? Security is of the utmost importance! Once users sign up, all of their information is private. However, educators do have access to a student’s profile at any time to help guide and monitor development.
What are points used for? When students earn enough points (400 or more), they are able to apply for career experiences.
How long should a Pointii recommendation be? Pointii recommendations are short and optional. Recommendations should be between 5-7 sentences or 400 characters.
What would be considered an acceptable recommendation? Recommendations should highlight a student’s character, achievements and/or impact. Please remember that companies may view the recommendation so keep it appropriate and about the student. If Pointii deems the recommendation unacceptable or inappropriate, we will take further action which will include an investigation, appropriate legal actions, or suspension/expulsion of an account.
Who can give recommendations? Thus far, recommendations can only be made by school personnel including teachers, counselors, principals and school partner organizations. Professionals who offer students career experiences can write them as well. However, emails left by the recommender must be a work or school email (e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com). If recommenders use personal email accounts like Gmail, Yahoo, etc., the recommendation will not be accepted or it will be recorded as unverified.

How will an educator or student know when a student has received a career experience? Both will receive an email indicating when, where, and what type of career experience the student received.
Will a student know if they did not receive a career experience? Yes and no. We try our best to communicate with students who did not meet the qualifications to receive a career experience. If we do not get to them within three weeks, you can contact your group’s CPC to see what may have happened.
How many points must a student have to earn a career experience? And is that all a student needs? A student must have a minimum of 400 points which is 3 recommendations and a completed profile. Once a student has both, they are required to pass the Career Readiness assessment with an 80% or higher.
